Reading books was not my cup of tea until a few years back. My husband loves to read books!!!! He is crazy about books 😊 A cup of Coffee with a book is his first love. Whenever we go to malls, he always stops by a book shop.
He loves to read books a lot. I was the total opposite of him. Initially I felt bored and got irritated whenever my husband read books. I always felt sleepy whenever I entered book shops. But he slowly influenced me. Then he suggested that I read a book of my favorite genre. Initially, he asked me to read 3 pages per day.
During 2018, he suggested these ideas. At that point I was interested only in the feminist topics. Because I was reading articles about feminism and started to follow a few people like Emily Sky fit, Michelle Obama, Amy Schumer etc…. At that point I came across the name Sheryl Sandberg. She is the COO of Facebook. I learnt about her, few of her accomplishments and her personal story. It was so inspiring for me. I saw she wrote some books. And her latest book was “Option - B : Facing Adversity , Building Resilience and Finding Joy”. Before that she wrote a book called “Lean In”. I just wanted to start with her first book. I completed that book within 2 months. Then I read her second book “Option - B”. On and off I read books only about feminism.
Like that I used to read 2 or 3 books in a year. Last year I completed 4 books 📚. Slowly my genres started to expand like Finance, Self Help etc... I read books like “Rich Dad,Poor Dad”, “The life changing magic of tidying up” by Marie Kondo.
After some point, I lost interest due to personal commitments and due to social media hindrance.
During this lock down, I didn’t know what to do. I wanted to make use of the lock down productively, then I decided to read books. I set up a goal in ”Good reads” to complete 12 books this year. My initial goal was to read 5 books by the end of the lock down. I ended up reading 12 books within 2 months. I never thought I would do this in my life!!!! This lock down completely changed my reading habits.
I love to read more books now. So far I have completed 15 books. I love to read and explore more things now. Hopefully, I will continue this journey for the rest of my life.
If you are reading my blog now, I hope you are good readers too. Comment below for any good book suggestions, I will try to read them in the next few months.
Safi, Thanks for motivating me always💕Happy Reading 🥰
